Firefighters continued to tackle the fires continuing to burn in the Amazon rainforest as many parts of the ecosystem have been left devastated, with tree trunk ashes scattering a portion and animals left dead. The fires in the Amazon, which account for more than half of the world's largest rainforest, have surged in number to 83% this year. Brazil's President Jair Bolsonaro, following concern and condemnation worldwide, pledged this weekend to mobilize the army to help combat the blaze.
