Deforestation effect and solutions

Deforestation is the process of cutting down the forest land for non - forest purposes. It involves significant loss of natural forests and wildlife which are irreplaceable gifts of mother nature. Negative Impact of deforestation: 1. Increasing CO2 Concentration: deforestation times many of the trees are burnt which results in releasing the carbon that is stored in them as carbon dioxide. This, in turn, leads to greater concentrations of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. 2. Soil Erosion:   Cutting down on trees leads to clearance of forests and so soil erosion occurs. Exposure of the soil to the sun’s heat dries up the moisture inside the soil.Nutrients evaporate and it affects the bacteria that help to break down organic matter.Due to this, rain washes the soil surfaces and erosion takes place. 3. Biodiversity Losses : Deforestation converted forest into land and so that many of the plants and animals do not survive. This is the ‘biodiversity loss’. Many wonderf...

Global warming effect on climate change

Global warming refers to the increase in the average global temperature of the Earth over time. By average global temperature, I mean taking the temperature of the air, water, and land from as many places on Earth as possible and averaging all the temperatures. Then also average these temperatures over a reasonable period of time, usually a year, to minimize the effect of short term events. Here is a bar graph of global temperatures over the last 107 years showing the warming trend. The dip from the late 1940s to the mid 1970s was due to the release of sunlight reflecting aerosols by burning dirty (high sulfur). There are a huge number of factors controlling the earth’s climate. The sun and its cycles play a major role. On earth, the interactions of the Land, Sea, Air and Ice Caps have major effects on climate. CO2 is a known cause of of atmospheric warming. This was demonstrated in the early 19th century and never dis-proven. It is extremely difficult to ...
